The faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science have many academic interests, but share a commitment to undergraduate education. Students have consistently noted the openness and approachability of our faculty, and we’ve worked hard to foster a sense of camaraderie among our students.
Because of the relatively large number of faculty in our department, it’s very likely that an interested student will be able to find a mentor with shared interests, whether those interests are in graduate study, education, applied work in other disciplines, or preparation for work in industry.
Located In Violette Hall, faculty offices surround open areas where students can relax, work and meet together. There’s a quiet study room and a dedicated computer lab for Math/CS majors (affectionately dubbed the “nerdery”).
Our programs in both Mathematics and Computer Science are designed to give all students a strong conceptual foundation in their chosen major, while still allowing each student the flexibility to pursue his or her own specific interests.
