In 2001, the Mathematics and Computer Science Department received a grant from the National Science Foundation to develop a scholarship program for students of mathematics and computer science. This program is called the Support for Undergraduate Scholars in Mathematics and Computer Science program and it offers several types of support services to participants including a scholarship of up to $3100.
For more information about this program, who is eligible to participate, and how to apply, see the program's web page:

A group of faculty and students from biology and from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science are teaming up to explore opportunities for study that exist at the intersection of the biological and mathematical sciences. This hot field (or intersection of fields) is often referred to as mathematical biology, and is of growing importance to pharmaceutical, agricultural, medical, and research institutions.
In addition to activities at Truman, the organizers of the Mathematical Biology Initiative are working to entice regional bioscience firms and research institutions into supporting this activity by providing speakers, tours of their facilities, summer research internship opportunities, and such.

The Next STEP at Truman State University is an innovative, exciting program designed to enrich the undergraduate curriculum through meaningful student/faculty interactions. By promoting cultural and curriculum change, The Next STEP is working to increase the number of students who complete a baccalaureate degree in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines and better prepare them for the future that lies ahead. The program is a collaborative effort between Truman and Metropolitan Community Colleges in Kansas City, St. Charles Community College and Moberly Area Community College.
