Jason was born in Kalamazoo, MI and lived in that area until the middle of fifth grade. His father, an industrial engineer at the time, then accepted a job at Rockwell International in Fairfield, IA. This was a small commute from both his parent's hometown of Ottumwa, IA so this is where they decided to move.

Jason finished his elementary and high school education in Ottumwa. He went to Iowa State University where he obtained his B.S. in mathematics, and then to Indiana University in Bloomington at which he acquired his masters and Ph.D. In April, 2005, he interviewed and accepted a job as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics. So, in the summer of 2005, he defended his dissertation and moved to Kirksville, where he has been ever since.

During the 2007-2008 academic school year, a tenure-track position in statistics opened up at Truman and he was encouraged to apply. He was offered the position and gladly accepted. Since August of 2008, Jason has been an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Truman.

In 2009, he met Erin Case, and academic adviser for New Student Programs. They turned out to be the perfect match and married in October of 2010. They live happily in a nice home in the middle of town with two adorable kittens.
